Helen Yau // Honours Student 2024

As a designer with a devotion towards branding, advertising and marketing, and user experience design, I hold many important values which inform my work and help to curate my creative identity.

One such value is the power of storytelling through design. Graphic design is a channel of communication and a connecting force bringing people together on a deeper emotional and cultural level. What I love about my work is that all my design projects are full of opportunities to share a unique and special story and I am keen to continue to learn how to use these important narratives in a true and purposeful way.

Design has the power to shape perception and improve human experiences and within my work I seek to curate compelling brand identities that inspires trust and loyalty, I conceptualize advertising campaigns which spark conversation, and craft intuitive user experiences to enhance lives.

My dissertation theme concentrated on emotional design which closely links to my studio practice. Empathy drives my designs, understanding the end-users and their needs is crucial to making a meaningful experience. I am committed to ethical design practices that uphold the principles of inclusivity, sustainability, and social responsibility.
